Randy is a fantastic teacher. He encourages creativity and inspires you to think for yourself while playing. He is knowledgeable in various styles such as jazz, Latin, Afro-Cuban, and rock. Definitely recommend to anyone who is either starting out or to someone who is already proficient yet wants to dive deeper into drumming.

There's a reason why famous rock drummers like John Bonham, Jimmy Chamberlin, Danny Carey, and Charlie Watts studied jazz. Jazz drumming teaches you to play like a musician and the drums are your instrument. Randy's lessons have made me a better musician and a much better drummer.
I got my drum set when I was nine. Flash forward 15 years and four drum instructors later. Randy is the best and I can't recommend him enough. Three years ago I started lessons with him and he still shows the same patience and interest in making me a better drummer that he did at the first lesson. What I really appreciate is his ability to get me past the tough spots by teaching a rhythm with different techniques.
His lessons are always entertaining. For example, my last lesson we worked on Afro-Cuban rhythms, syncopated rhythms around the drum kit, and four-way independent rhythms. Pretty amazing since I couldn't even play a basic triplet when I started. Other teachers taught me how to play songs and fills but since working with Randy I'm no longer limited to the specific music or genre that I've learned at a lesson.
You don't just get how-to lessons when you study with Randy. He has an amazing library in iTunes and on vinyl that he plays. So you'll learn history and techniques while having fun listening to some outstanding music.
